THE SITUATION
A Recent survey collected from Statistics Canada captured information taken from a random day at shelters across Canada. On this date nearly 4000 women and 3500 children stayed in shelters. About Three-quarters of these women were fleeing abuse. Others were seeking shelter for reasons such as mental health issues and addictions.

Almost 4 in 10 of these women on this particular day were not there for the first time.

About 1 shelter in 5 had to refer women and children elsewhere because they were unable to accommodate everyone seeking assistance. In total, more than 300 women and 200 children were turned away. In most cases it was because the shelter had reached its capacity.

The availability of transition homes, which are long-stay facilities, has decreased in recent years, while emergency shelters have tripled. Short-term refuge is typically only a few days.

THE VISION
Our vision is to provide (through Destiny House) a longer stay, in a biblically centered home for women living a life below what God has designed for them. Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."

Through the provisions made available at Destiny House, women will have access to a safe environment to begin a process of healing and restoration. Teaching and training programs will assist women in discovering their God-designed life and in becoming bold and confident in their new walk with Christ.

With the direction of the Holy Spirit, we are working to provide forty emergency shelter beds, as well as food, clothing, counselling, and advocacy for abused women.
Life skills training will also be made available for those transitioning out of more severe circumstances.

COUNSELLING CENTRE
We will provide counseling with trained advocates and licensed masters' level counsellors for adults, teens and children.

These services will be available free of charge to anyone who has experienced abuse in a relationship, domestic violence or elder abuse. Services can also be sought for addictions and mental health issues.

LIFE CHANGERS MINISTRY
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ - 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

 It is fair to ask, "Is there really a war going on?"

The answer is, "Yes" and the answer is contained in the Bible. It is a battle manual for extracting captives from the enemy's hands and turning them into healed, free, active, and able soldiers. 

Where does the battle rage? In the realms of the soul and spirit, it goes on in our thoughts. The places of infiltration are buried in our belief systems, distorted by our ancestral inheritance (of curses and ungodly traditions), and affects us with wounds to our soul and spirit. Therefore, causing the enemy to direct a continuous flow of propaganda to our minds, coming not only directly into our thoughts but also through our eye and ear gates.

Life changers Ministry is based on this battle manual, the Bible. This Ministry helps people to renew their minds and recognize that they are in a war with an enemy who has targeted them and their loved ones. They are taught how to take their position in the battle, and also trained how to use their weapons, which is the Word of God. They are taught that they are on the winning side and how to enforce their victory.
